Washington County already confines thousands in prisons with stark racial disparities. Now DHS wants to add 1,500 beds for immigrants in a building designed to store cargo.
If the current Board of Commissioners have their way and are not replaced in November elections, Washington County will soon come to be known as Incarceration County. Not a desireable moniker to attract other businesses and industry, not good for property values, not good for county residents.
What were these commissioners thinking? Who benefits from their support of an ICE Detention/Processing Center? Who is making money off this insult to the county residents?

Who will be put there. The right question indeed.
Answer: our neighbors.
